Commitment to Accessibility

ForgeOpus is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It has three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

This website is partially conformantwith WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some content does not fully conform to the accessibility standard. Known limitations and our remediation efforts are described below.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, the following limitations may exist. We are actively working to address these issues.

Animated content and motion

Affects: Hero section, background animations, section transitions

The site uses motion-based animations (framer-motion). While aprefers-reduced-motionCSS rule is in place to disable CSS keyframe animations, JavaScript-driven animations (framer-motion) do not currently respond to this preference.

Remediation: We plan to add useReducedMotion() from framer-motion to all animated components so that users who prefer reduced motion see static content.

In the meantime:You can enable “Reduce motion” in your operating system settings (Windows: Settings → Accessibility → Visual effects; macOS: System Settings → Accessibility → Display). Enabling this setting will suppress CSS-based animations.

Third-party content

Affects: Embedded GitHub statistics widget, external documentation links

Some content or functionality is provided by third parties (GitHub, Read the Docs). We do not control the accessibility of these external resources and cannot guarantee they meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Remediation: All third-party content is optional and supplementary. All primary content on this site is accessible independently.

Technologies Used

This website relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript (ES2022+)
  • WAI-ARIA (roles, states, and properties for dynamic components)

The site is built with Next.js 15 and React 19, which produce semantic HTML output. Styling is implemented with Tailwind CSS v4.

Assessment Approach

ForgeOpus assessed the accessibility of this website using the following approaches:

  • Self-evaluation — manual code review against WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA success criteria
  • Automated testing — Google Lighthouse (accessibility score: 92/100 at time of assessment)
  • Keyboard navigation testing — verified tab order, focus indicators, and skip navigation functionality

This site has not yet undergone a formal third-party accessibility audit. We intend to commission one as the project grows.

Organizational Measures

ForgeOpus takes the following measures to support accessibility:

  • Accessibility is evaluated when introducing new UI components or pages
  • Focus management and keyboard navigation are considered during development
  • Colour contrast is checked against WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Semantic HTML elements and ARIA attributes are used throughout

Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology

This website is designed to be compatible with the following environments:

  • Chrome (latest) with NVDA on Windows
  • Safari (latest) with VoiceOver on macOS
  • Chrome and Firefox (latest two major versions) on any operating system

The website may not be fully compatible with older browsers (Internet Explorer) or assistive technology that is more than two major versions behind the current release.
